It is a strange division when a team records its first victory and, as a consequence, is propelled up the table. Such is the case with the Second Division where Bramley D inflicted the first defeat on Ash B with an 8-2 success. Geoff Nevitt was the chief point scorer with a maximum and he was supported By John Diggens and Bob Holmden with braces. Neither of them could get the better of Jackie Rice. Woking LTC B made themselves firm promotion favourites, together with the unbeatable Godalming D, with a 9-1 success over Bramley C. Ollie Carpenter and Ahmad Matoorian picked up maximums for Woking with Richard Carpenter getting a pair. The bottom half of this table is incredibly congested and suggests a topsy-turvy season for those teams threatened with relegation.

The Fourth Division still boasts three teams with a 100% record. Godalming H lead the way and a 7-3 win over their J team allowed them to ease into the top slot. Dom Carpenter and Paul Herbert were unbeaten for Godalming H. Woking LTC C continued their winning ways with a 6-4 win over Cranleigh C for whom Chris Ray was unbeaten. Mike Glen and Alex Bolychevsky each won twice for Woking.

The First Division is turning into a three horse race. College Hill B moved into second spot with an 8-2 win over Cody A. Phil Harrison won all his sets with Dave Woodward and Adrain Sharp each winning twice. Bramley A could only manage a draw against Merrow F and this has dented their prospects. Peter Palmer was unbeaten for Bramley whilst Robin Street and Keith Cunningham each won twice for Merrow. Woking LTC A moved into mid-table with an 8-2 win over Merrow F. John Koenigsberger and Brian Hartles were unbeaten for Woking with Daniel Koenigsberger only losing out to Phil Hales.

A reminder that the league is holding an Open Day at Christ’s College on Saturday. It is a ‘have-a-go’ day with equipment provided. Entries are also being received for the Handicap Tournament at the end of the month. Entry forms are available from the website.
